overview

Booking with Con Bush Safaris is a straightforward process. After we have designed your itinerary and you are ready to confirm, a 30% deposit secures all your camps, vehicles, internal flights and park permits. The remaining 70% balance is due 60 days before your arrival date.

this page explains the payment process in detail — what we accept, when, what's included, what isn't, and how the practicalities of paying us from anywhere in the world actually work.

Quick summary

a 30% deposit on booking, then the 70% balance 60 days before arrival. by bank transfer (no fee) or credit card (3% fee). once your deposit is paid, your camps and logistics are confirmed and held in your name.

02

deposit & final payment

deposit (30%)

the deposit confirms your booking and triggers the actual reservation of your camps, vehicles, flights and permits. until it clears, nothing is held in your name. we send a final booking summary with the deposit invoice, and we'd suggest paying within 7 working days to secure your preferred camps.

final balance (70%)

The balance is due no later than 60 days before your arrival date. We send a reminder 75 days before, and the formal invoice 60 days before. Payment is accepted via the same methods as the deposit.

last-minute bookings

for bookings made less than 60 days before arrival, the full amount is due straight away. this is standard practice, and it makes sure every supplier is paid in time for your travel.

date changes after booking

reasonable date changes (shifting by a few days or weeks) are usually accommodated with no penalty if you're more than 60 days from arrival. bigger changes may need re-quoting. see our cancellation policy for the formal rules.

payment methods

bank transfer (recommended)

a direct international wire transfer to our tanzanian or international holding bank. this is our preferred method, for a few reasons:

  • No card fees — full amount goes to your safari
  • Secure and standard for international travel bookings
  • We provide the IBAN/SWIFT details with each invoice
  • Your bank charges a small fee ($15-30 typically) at your end
  • Funds clear in 1-3 working days

credit card (3% fee)

we accept visa, mastercard and american express through our secure payment processor. a 3% processing fee applies because the card networks charge us — it isn't our markup.

  • Useful for travel points/miles
  • Faster than bank transfer in some countries
  • Stronger consumer protection in some jurisdictions
  • 3% added to invoice total

other methods

  • Wise (formerly TransferWise): increasingly popular, low-fee international transfers
  • PayPal: available on request but 3.5%+ fee — generally less attractive than card
  • Cryptocurrency: not currently accepted
A note on currency

all our pricing is in us dollars (usd). bank transfers are easiest in usd; we can accept eur, gbp and cad at the current exchange rate plus a 0.5% conversion margin. to avoid double conversion, pay in usd if you can.

what is included in safari prices

tanzania safari pricing is "all-inclusive" by industry convention. our quoted per-person prices include:

What is included
  • All accommodation (camps and lodges per itinerary)
  • All meals at lodges (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Drinking water during game drives and at meals
  • House wines and local beer at most lodges (premium drinks may be extra)

  • Ground transfers between airports/camps
  • Sundowners and bush breakfasts where included

  • Detailed pre-trip documentation
  • 24/7 in-country support during travel
  • Government VAT and tourism levies
05

what is not included

what you're responsible for separately:

Not included
  • International flights to/from Tanzania
  • Tanzania entry visa fees
  • Comprehensive travel insurance (mandatory, separate)
  • Personal travel/medical expenses
  • Vaccinations and prophylactics
  • Premium drinks and spirits at lodges (where not included in lodge rates)
  • Spa treatments and beauty services
  • Laundry beyond complimentary service
  • Phone calls and internet (Wi-Fi is generally free)
  • Optional activities (hot air balloon, walking safari extras, cultural visits if not in itinerary)
  • Souvenirs and shopping
  • Tips/gratuities (recommended amounts in our pre-trip pack)

optional activities & their typical costs

  • Hot air balloon safari: $599-650 per person (Serengeti)
  • Cultural visits: $50-150 per person depending on group
  • Night drives: $80-150 per person (private concessions only)
  • Walking safari add-on: $150-300 per person per walk
  • Scuba diving (Zanzibar): $50-150 per dive

06

when prices can change

once your booking is confirmed (deposit paid), the quoted price is locked in. the only exceptions are:

government-imposed fee increases

if tanzania national parks (TANAPA) raises park entry fees after your booking, we may pass the increase on. this is rare, and usually announced months ahead.

currency fluctuations on non-usd payments

if you pay in eur, gbp or another non-usd currency, the conversion rate is fixed at the date of each invoice. large currency swings between deposit and final payment may slightly change the local-currency amount.

itinerary changes requested by you

if you request changes after booking (upgrade camps, add days, swap activities), we revise the pricing accordingly — and always send a clear revised quote before anything changes.

Otherwise locked

the supplier costs we've negotiated are guaranteed for your booking. any lodge or camp rate rises between booking and travel don't affect your invoice.

07

group & family bookings

group bookings (5+ travellers) and private departures follow the same process, with a few adjustments:

  • Single deposit invoice for the lead booker, who is responsible for collecting from the group
  • Group discounts may apply on larger bookings (8+) and longer itineraries
  • Multi-vehicle bookings may benefit from coordinated pricing
  • Family bookings: child rates apply for those under 12 (usually 50-75% of adult rate, lodge-dependent)
  • Multi-generational groups: we can structure payment so different family branches handle their own portions

specific scenarios

  • Honeymoons: same booking process, often with complimentary upgrades at our partner camps (we coordinate with the camp manager)
  • Photography groups: typically 4 guests per vehicle; deposit may be higher (often 40%) due to vehicle commitment
  • Charity / NGO groups: discounted rates available — please contact us
